A basement or stilt can solve parking and space problems. It also changes the structure and site planning.

A basement is not simply another normal floor below ground. Soil, water, excavation and access now become part of the problem.

A stilt is an open or partly open ground level, commonly used for parking. A basement is partly or fully below ground.

Less excavation and fewer below-ground details.

Best when parking and space already work.

Ground-level capacity

Creates parking or open space without going underground.

Needs structure, headroom and circulation.
Basement

Substantial space

Useful on tight sites or where parking and storage demand are high.

Adds excavation, retaining, water, ramp and ventilation.
Decision

Benefit versus systems

The main benefit is more usable site capacity. The main complication is more structural, access and water-management work.

A simple-looking basement quote may be an incomplete one.

There is no “inferior material” here. The warning is a missing scope.

Red flag

If the quotation looks unusually simple, check whether the systems around the concrete are actually included.
