Chapter 2 Β· Lesson 2.5LW+ Admixture

01 Inside

Admixture Β· dosage Β· water resistance

LW+ works inside the mix.

LW+ is mixed into concrete, mortar or plaster. It improves water resistance and workability inside the mix.

Adding LW+ does not mean every other waterproofing layer can disappear. It works inside the mix; a membrane or joint treatment does a different job.

02 Boundary

One measure does not erase the others.

With LW+, an integral liquid waterproofing admixture is added at a specified dosage. Without it, correctly designed concrete can still perform well when properly protected.

Inside mix

LW+ admixture

Supports water resistance, workability and mix performance depending on the product.

At surface

Membrane / coating

Forms a dedicated barrier where exposure and detailing demand it.

At discontinuity

Joint detail

Treats places where construction breaks the continuity of the material.

Execution

Batching & curing

Specified dosage, correct mixing and curing remain essential.

03 Spec

Ask what changes if the admixture is removed.

The issue is not β€œbelow LW+.” It is whether the concrete and waterproofing strategy are complete without it.

Ask before approval
Which product, at what dosage, in which mix?
  • Which concrete, mortar or plaster receives it?
  • How is dosage controlled on site?
  • Which membranes and coatings remain required?
  • What changes in the water-resistance strategy if it is removed?

04 Check

Do not collapse the system into one additive.

An admixture, surface barrier and joint detail work in different places.

If LW+ is added, can all other waterproofing details automatically be removed?

Choose the answer that preserves the whole water-resistance system.
