Conduit Β· box Β· coating

Hidden route and wall box are separate decisions.

Concealed describes how the wiring is hidden. MS, SS and powder coating describe the box that holds switches and sockets inside the wall.

These are not four completely different electrical systems. The wiring route and the metal box are two separate parts.

02 Boxes

One route. Several enclosure choices.

The conduit carries wires; the box holds switches, sockets or junctions.

Concealed

Installation method

Wiring and conduit are hidden inside walls or slabs. Ask what conduit is included.

MS box

Mild steel

Strong, rugged and economical, but needs corrosion protection.

SS box

Stainless steel

Improves corrosion resistance; it does not by itself make the circuit safer.

Powder coating

Surface protection

Adds a protective finish to metal; coating quality and site damage still matter.

03 Watch

Material labels cannot rescue a badly installed box.

The lower-quality warning is a thin, poorly protected or badly aligned boxβ€”not simply the absence of stainless steel.

Ask before approval
What conduit, box material and thickness are included?
  • How are MS boxes protected from corrosion?
  • Are boxes fixed before plaster at the correct depth?
  • Is the concealed conduit appropriate for the route?
  • Has coating been damaged during installation?
