01 Problem

Supplied means demonstrated.

A system is not properly handed over because someone says that it works. You should see it operate under the conditions in which you are expected to use it.

That includes understanding basic controls, normal behaviour, isolation points, warning signs and who should be contacted when servicing is required.

You do not need to become the technician. You need enough understanding to own the system.

02 Tests

Test systems by making them do their real job.

Water should run through actual outlets. Drainage should receive actual water. Electrical controls should operate the correct circuits. Backup power should be tested by understanding what happens when mains power fails.

Where several outlets are expected to operate together, test simultaneous use instead of checking everything one fixture at a time.

The goal is not only to prove that equipment turns on. It is to confirm that the complete system behaves as expected.

Water

Run the complete supply

Check tank filling, overflow, pump operation, usable pressure, multiple outlets and visible leakage.

Test simultaneous use where the design is expected to support it.
Hot water + drainage

Check both directions

Confirm hot water arrives, temperature controls work and heaters operate, then verify bathrooms, balconies, terraces, kitchen and utility areas drain correctly.

A drain that exists but does not receive water is not performing.
Electrical + backup

Understand normal and outage operation

Know the main switch, DB circuits, protective devices and which loads receive backup during an outage.

Do not discover the backup arrangement during the first power cut.
Automation + security + AC

Test controls and fallback

Run scenes, sensors, curtains, AC controls, gates, remotes, locks, cameras and ventilation where supplied.

Essential functions should have understandable manual or isolation procedures.

03 Handover

Testing is incomplete if you still do not know how the system is controlled.

For water systems, understand pumps, valves, heaters and shutdown points. For electrical systems, know the main isolation point and which DB circuit controls what. For backup power, know capacity, charging behaviour and which circuits are supported.

Automation and security need the same discipline. Test normal controls, then understand what happens when an app, sensor, remote, network or mains supply is unavailable.

AC and ventilation should be operated long enough to confirm cooling, controls, drain lines, unusual noise and accessible service points.

A homeowner needs operation knowledge, not merely a list of installed brands.

Make one operations sheet
If something stops working tomorrow, do you know where it is, how to isolate it and who services it?
  • Record the location of the water pump and its isolation control
  • Record the main water valve and other important shut-off points
  • Identify the electrical main and important DB circuits
  • Record which circuits receive inverter or backup power
  • Document manual releases for gates or automated systems
  • Keep basic operating instructions for central hot-water systems and other equipment
  • Record service contacts for pumps, automation, gates, AC and specialist systems
  • Keep manuals, settings and handover information with the project records

04 Check

See it operate before you accept it.

Select every step that belongs in a proper system handover.

Remember

Normal operation, controls, isolation and support information should become clear before the project team disappears.
