Preserve the record
Keep drawings, approvals, contracts, specifications, payments and important project contacts.
01 Handover
Check · test · document · understand
Construction eventually stops. The workers leave. The dust clears. The house looks finished.
But before you simply take the keys and move in, there is one final stage: checking, testing, documenting, understanding and preparing to maintain what has been built.
02 Scope
By handover, many important parts of the building are already hidden: pipes, wires, waterproofing, equipment and service routes.
Memory is no longer enough. You need records that explain what was built, whether it works, what remains under warranty and what will need maintenance later.
Keep drawings, approvals, contracts, specifications, payments and important project contacts.
Photograph concealed electrical, plumbing, waterproofing and service work before it disappears.
Snag room by room and operate water, pumps, hot water, drainage, electrical systems, automation and gates.
Keep final drawings, completion records, warranties, manuals, equipment information and finish references.
03 Control
Know where the main water, electrical, pump and other user controls are located. Understand defects, warranties and the difference between a defect, normal maintenance and later damage.
Then build a simple maintenance rhythm for drains, pumps, AC systems, joinery, windows, gates and water-related trouble spots.
The goal is to move from dependence on the project team to informed ownership of the house.
Can you inspect, test, record and control the house yourself?
04 Start
The first step is building the record that allows you to understand the project long after concealed work disappears and the construction team leaves.
Choose what allows the homeowner to take real ownership.
